Craig Docherty, Founder & CEO of Fusion Safety, is sharing his takeaway after attending the Start-Up Shake-up Conference, North East Victoria.
In early September, Craig had the opportunity to present to some enthusiastic people at the Start-up Shake-up conference in Bright, North East Victoria, Australia.
Startup Shakeup is a community for the movers, shakers, and change-makers in North East Victoria. It is a place for networking and educational events that will support businesses to solve local problems and support causes that shape our future.
The focus was on 3 key areas:
- Leadership qualities that work.
- The use of technology in our business.
- Working with international clients from regional North East Victoria.
Craig described the experiences as a pleasure to discuss his experiences working with different cultures around the world and what leadership qualities consistently worked no matter where or what the culture was. Specifically, the importance of building rapport and embedding dignity and respect in a leader’s role repertoire.
From there, four key aspects of leadership development critical to developing your own leadership style were discussed:
- Self-Awareness
- Self-Management
- Social Awareness
- Power and Politics
Following this, the experiences using technology to continue leadership development for existing clients’ leadership during the covid pandemic. Craig discussed the need to learn a new way of working and the challenges of developing online learning modules delivered through a blended learning approach.
We capped off the evening by discussing the opportunities and capabilities of the local area, and how there are many fantastic individuals and opportunities to grow consulting business in North East Victoria.
With a clear vision, there is the ability to run consulting business from North East Victoria, with a reach that spans the globe.
All in all, it was an absolute privilege for Craig to keen individuals who are interested in continuing their own professional development and expanding their business opportunities.
