12 Months in India: The Journey So Far

Fusion Safety has a long-standing commitment to enhancing workplace safety across the globe. It stems from our core values and guiding principles of Improving Lives.

While our expertise has been successfully applied in Southeast Asia and with select multinational clients in India, the alarming rate of workplace injuries and fatalities in India demands a more significant and impactful intervention.

In late 2023, we embarked on a mission to explore avenues for contributing to a safer working environment in India. Director of Leadership Dr. Ross Rynehart and GM Corporate Strategy Nick Rankin initiated collaboration with Austrade to investigate the most effective approach to support this endeavour. Given our successful track record in high-risk industries across Southeast Asia and our internationally recognised solutions (IOSH and AIHS), we prioritised understanding the unique needs, cultural nuances, and existing safety landscape within India.

To achieve this, we conducted extensive research and analysis of the Indian workplace safety landscape. We identified key challenges such as a lack of awareness of safety best practices, differing training and education standards, and cultural differences. We also recognised the unique opportunities presented by India’s growing economy and its increasing focus on safety.

To address these challenges and capitalise on these opportunities, we sought a local partner with deep-rooted expertise in the Indian market. This led us to NIST Global, a prominent Indian-based international health and safety provider. NIST Global shares our commitment to improving workplace safety and has a strong track record of delivering innovative solutions to clients across India and beyond.

In April 2024, Dr. Ross and Nick, joined by Fusion Safety CEO Craig Docherty, participated in an Austrade Skills Mission in Delhi and Chennai. This mission provided an invaluable opportunity to meet with key stakeholders in the Indian safety industry, including government officials, industry leaders, and potential clients. The mission also allowed us to strengthen our relationship with NIST Global and to develop a shared vision for our partnership.

Fast forward to September 2024 at the launch of the Center for Accelerated Culture Transformation (Safety) – ACT(S), where Fusion Safety was joined by NIST Global’s Director of Client & Customer Synergy Lawrence Andoni, to celebrate our new partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

Our collaboration with NIST Global marks a significant step towards our shared vision of improving lives and fostering safer workplaces across India in 2025 and beyond. Together, we are actively engaged in upskilling both Fusion Safety and NIST Global teams on the ACT(S) program and exploring effective strategies for implementation within the Indian context. We believe that our partnership with NIST Global will enable us to deliver innovative and impactful safety solutions that will help to reduce workplace injuries and fatalities in India.
